U. P. Governor Ram Naik Attends Diocesan Christmas 2016 Function
There was a 'Christmas Get Together' on 26th December 2016 from 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. to which the Religious Leaders, City VIPs, important Governments Officers, Parish Priests, Principals of Schools and friends of the diocese were invited. The most important person invited was the Governor of U.P. Shri Ram Naik. The Governor attended the function, to the great joy and satisfaction of the people in the diocese.
The short programme consisted of a Bible Reading and Prayer, a Welcome Speech, a Christmas Message by the Bishop, a dance by the students of St. Dominic's School and another by the students of the School for the Hearing and Speech Impaired (Deaf and Dumb School). The Governor spoke briefly but glowingly of the contribution of the Christian Community in the field of Education and Health Care and his own association with the Christian Community when he was a politician in Bombay, mentioning in a special way that when he had cancer in 1993, all the Churches in Vasai Diocese (within his then Lok Sabha Constituency in Mumbai) prayed for him and contributed to his full recovery! The function over, the Governor had a cup of tea at the Bishop's House while the rest of the invitees were served refreshments in the Cathedral School Premises.
