Lucknow Diocese hosts 'National Conclave on Knowledge & Cultural Conservation'
The Diocese of Lucknow, under the leadership of the Bishop, Most Rev. Gerald J. Mathias, hosted the ‘2nd National Conclave on Knowledge and Cultural Conservation’ on February 12, 2018 at the Cathedral Hall in Lucknow. The Chief Guest on the occasion was the Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Shri Syed Ghayoorul Hasan Rizvi, who had come speciaily from Delhi to participate in and guide the Conclave. Others who were present and spoke were Mr. V.K Pamdey, Addl. Director for Secondary Education of U.P., Methodist Bishop Bishop Philippe Massey, Catholic Bishop Gerald Mathias, Dr. Ashish Massey, Former DGP of U.P. Shri Yashpal Singh, Anglo-Indian M.L.A. of U.P. Vidhan Sabha and several Heads of Educational and Minority Instituions.
In the speeches and interaction that followed the NCM Chairman assured the House that he will ensure that all the facilities offered by the Central and State Governments would be made available to the Minority Communities in the Country. A special matter discussed was the founding of a ’National Christian University’ in the line of the ‘Aligarh Muslim University’ and the ‘Benars Hindu University’. The Conclave was organized with the efforts of MINDSHARE, whose leaders Syed Zulfi, Fr. Paul Rodrigues and Maulana Syed Shabab Raza, who took the initiative. The Vote of Thanks was given by Fr. Donald De Souza, Chancellor of the Diocese of Lucknow. The participants in the Conclave were enlightened by several things and information on the rights as well as the difficulties of the Christian Minorities in the State of U.P. and in the country at large.
