Foundation Stone of St. Joseph Vaz School Blessed and Laid in Bhinga
The Diocese of Lucknow expanded its missionary outreach yet once more when Bishop Gerald Mathias of Lucknow blessed and laid the Foundation Stone of a new School in Bhinga, the District Headquarters of Shravasti, the town of Bhinga lying some 40 Kilometers from the Nepal Border, on 24 October 2018, in the presence of a few Priests, Sisters, Students from St. Norbert School in Bahraich and friends and well wishers. The School is to be named after one more of our Indian saint, St. Joseph Vaz. The building work is to begin soon and the School will open its door to the students in the academic session of 2020.
Shravasti District, of which Bhinga Town is the District Headquarters, was created a few years ago by the U.P. Government to give a boost to the Buddhist Tourist Circuit in the State of Uttar Pradesh, having been carved out of Bahraich District. The land for the proposed School was purchased a few years ago but the work in immediate preparation for the School started only recently. Fr. Paul Correa, the Parish Priest in Bahraich, together with the Vicar General Fr. Ronald DíSouza, was looking after the land and with matters relating to the proposed School.
